Baltic Wood as an eco brand: the ways we care for the health of our customers and the planet

Baltic Wood jako eko marka: jak dbamy o zdrowie klientów i planety?

As Baltic Wood we have been pursuing a philosophy of sustainable development for years, which is reflected in every stage of our operations – from the sourcing of raw materials and selection of components, to the manufacturing process, to the final products and their packaging. For us, being eco means taking care of both the planet and the health of our customers, whom we provide with natural, high-quality products.

What kind of company is an eco-company?

An eco-company is an enterprise that conducts its business in a sustainable manner, minimising its negative impact on the environment. It is characterised by several key features: from the selection and sourcing of raw materials and components, to production and waste management.

Responsible sourcing of raw materials

Eco companies use renewable or recycled raw materials, taking care to ensure that their sourcing does not lead to environmental degradation. When it comes to timber, cooperation with certified suppliers, such as FSC-certified ones, is the standard.

Efficient use of resources

Minimising energy, water and material consumption is a priority. Eco companies invest in energy-saving technologies and optimise production processes to reduce the waste of raw materials.

Use of safe components

Products created by eco companies are free of harmful chemicals such as formaldehydes or solvents. This makes them both user- and environment-friendly.

Green packaging and logistics

Eco companies are eliminating disposable plastic packaging, replacing it with biodegradable or recyclable materials. Logistics are also being optimised to reduce CO₂ emissions.

Reduction of emissions and waste

Production takes place with minimal environmental impact, which means a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, toxic compounds and waste generation. A circular economy is often deployed, with production leftover material being recycled or reused.

Transparency and certification

Eco companies boast international certifications that back up their actions, such as FSC, ISO 14001 or FloorScore. They testify to meeting stringent environmental and quality standards.

Natural floors: environment- and health-friendly

Did you know that although wood is a renewable resource, not every wooden floor can be called eco-friendly? The choice of components is of utmost importance.

Our floors are manufactured with the use of eco-friendly adhesives, varnishes and oils that are free of harmful substances such as formaldehydes and phthalates. Consequently, they do not emit volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and are safe for allergy sufferers and children.

Eco-friendly manufacturing of Baltic Wood floors

The manufacturing process of our floors begins with responsible wood sourcing. We only cooperate with FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified suppliers, which means that the raw material comes from forests managed in accordance with environmental, social and economic principles.

In our manufacturing process we use:

  • eco-friendly adhesives that are safe for health and the environment,
  • varnishes, oils, stains produced by reliable manufacturers, and free of substances hazardous to health,
  • energy-efficient technologies that reduce the factory’s carbon footprint.

Each manufacturing stage generates a minimum amount of waste. We use the wood residuals to produce biomass, which we pass on to specialised facilities.

Certificates of environmental care

Our commitment to ecology and quality is confirmed by numerous certificates.

Certificates of environmental care

FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certificate

The FSC certificate guarantees that the wood used in production comes from responsibly managed forests. This certificate demonstrates our commitment to conserving natural resources.

M1 certificate

This is a Finnish certificate that confirms the low emissions of harmful substances from our products. This makes Baltic Wood floors safe even for the most demanding users.

Real Wood logo

This marking proves that our products are made of 100% real wood, which distinguishes them from manufacturers who use imitations.

This is the international standard for environmental management, which confirms that our company has implemented numerous standards to reduce its environmental impact as much as possible.

FloorScore Certificate

This is yet another certificate indicating that our products meet the highest standards in terms of volatile organic compound emissions, making them safe for health.

FEP Parquet Refinishable Programme Certificate

This certificate proves that our floors can be sanded repeatedly, extending their life and minimising the need for replacement. Properly used, cared for and renewed, our wood floors can preserve their excellent condition for several decades.

Environmental declaration of the Institute for Civil Engineering

This Polish certificate confirms that our products meet strict ecological and safety standards.

Through the use of natural raw materials, eco-friendly components and responsible manufacturing processes, we create floors that are sustainable, as well as friendly to the planet and the health of our customers.
